I hope the next time I see that government asphalt spreader it’s on sale and my buddy is buying it so he can provide competitive prices to government instead of them trying to put him out of business.

Would the author follow on to the next logical question? Namely, should government be in the business of giving millions of taxpayers’ money to private firms? So many fake businesses and development firms are propped up with infrastructure dollars and government handouts that it amounts to corporate welfare.
I agree that government should not compete with private business, but I also–as a beleaguered taxpayer–believe that we should let private business get their own dollars for their projects and get their hands out of the taxpayers’ pockets. Private businesses should be private, never publicly funded.
