Branding. Web. Actionable strategy. Creative thinking.
What would you consider to be your agency’s ‘portfolio’ piece?
We conceived, wrote and directed a public service announcement for the Tema Conter Memorial Trust called “Hands”, to raise awareness of the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder amongst EMS workers. The TV commercial aired across Canada on CTV, Global and MuchMusic and was awarded a Platinum Remi at the Houston WorldFest in 2006 as the best 30 second commercial internationally in the Health Services sector.
What is your agency most known for?
Great work.
Great to work with.
A great place to work.
Who We Are
SPARK is a full-service marketing company comprised of our region’s best marketers who have come together because they recognize an opportunity for a different kind of agency; one that fully understands both offline and online marketing, one who fully understands how to marry strategy with creativity, and one who fully understands their clients. We’re SPARK. We see things differently.
SPARK is a virtual team, managed from our hub here in St. John’s. We are not just a lot of people contributing ideas, but a lot of different people contributing ideas. From Halifax, Nova Scotia; Montreal, Quebec; Toronto, Ontario; New York, New York; and a few places in between, we bring together a network of collaborators and visionaries attracting the best ideas from the best people wherever those people might be.
What Sets Us Apart
Most agencies claim to be different. SPARK is. We defend that in everything we do. We challenge conventional thinking. We don’t use the word “can’t”. And we never do things “just because that’s how they’ve always been done”.
What we do has to work. Our clients’ success depends on it. We take that very seriously.
We match our extended talent network to meet our clients’ diverse needs. We employ some of the nicest, smartest, most enthusiastic and hard working people you will ever meet. We have come together because we love what we do, we are passionate about great marketing, and we want to bring that to our client relationships.
Our Philosophy
Great creative is born from a simple consumer-driven insight. With that, we can build a brand strategically, measurably and competently, always in close partnership with our client.
We Specialize In…
getting our clients noticed. Advertising may not be the answer to that so we’re not slaves to it. PR, digital media, or an iPhone app may be the answer. It’s about finding the best voice to break the clutter with our client’s message.
Portfolio Piece
Athome Furnishings required brand differentiation among the many furniture store offerings in the St. John’s market. Athome sells upscale furniture for the style-conscious homeowner. It isn’t a “Sale!, Sale! Sale!” kind of place. But their communications and their location up to now had been giving the market mixed messages.
Our strategy was to appeal to the female demographic that by far had the most say in furniture sales in the household. By combining the visual ideas of fashion and furniture we delivered a campaign that said loudly, “Style For Home”.
The new brand communicates that how you see yourself can now be reflected in the furniture and fabric choices you make for your own home. We knew we had achieved success with the re-brand when women started asking if the pillow purse was actually available.
Description
Spectacle Communications Group Inc. is an award-winning, visual communications, graphic design and marketing studio based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Having worked as colleagues since 1996, we merged under one roof as Spectacle Group in 2005.
Since then, we have been developing marketing and communications solutions for clients ranging from small businesses to large corporations. Spectacle Group combines creativity, experience and a fresh approach to working with our clients.
With a permanent staff of six, and professional relationships with respected animators, illustrators and media buyers, we are confident in our ability to take on any project.
Our advertising philosophy
Crafting communications that work is our only business. We believe in putting the client’s needs first. Spectacle Group projects don’t have a signature look – we think that the client should be the star of the creative, not the designers.
